FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is LegacySpread / Are the servers running different weapon spread / regfix?

LegacySpread is a plugin that patches the poor accuracy of each weapon in the game. The goal is to make gunplay feel more reliable and less random. That does not mean that each weapon has an entirely new recoil pattern. The recoil stays exactly the same. Reducing the randomness of the spread pattern also means, that the accuracy of each weapon is a lot more predictable. When Valve had dropped the OrangeBox update in 2010, they have completely changed, how the spread is calculated of all weapons. The deagle might be the best example here. Before the OrangeBox updates, the deagle was more reliable when it came to hitting enemies from greater distances. And since the updates, the deagle has lost its accuracy that it had previously, which makes it feel a lot more random and less reliable (in general, not just from longer distances). With the LegacySpread plugin, the weapon spread is brought back to a state, where it is more similar to the old version of CS:S. This version is also known as v34, which gained huge popularity among Source-Enthusiasts.

The plugin also comes with a "landfix", which solves the issue of weapons losing their accuracy as soon as you land on the ground. Here is a video for demonstration: YouTube

Last thing that I see people talk about from time to time (and get confused about) is the hit registration. This has nothing to do with weapon recoil/spread and there are no issues regarding hitreg on the servers.

Update - May 19, 2026:
A new update has been released which reduces how often the engine evaluates the direction of the weapon spray pattern. Since the game is not designed for a tick rate of 100 (Valve locked it to 66 by default), we decided reset the evaluation of the weapon spray pattern to its original state, as if it were running at a tick rate of 66: YouTube
The result is that spraying is more predictable, reliable, and worthwhile.

How does the new team balancing system work?

The system determines a player rating based on their ranking statistics, including: Kills / Deaths (KDR), accuracy (hits vs shots), Headshot percentage and Round win/loss contribution. Newer or weaker players will receive a lower rating and above average and strong players a higher rating. Unranked players are still included and assigned a baseline rating.

The goal is to create more balanced 5v5 games, reduce one-sides matches and ensure that teams are evenly matched based on actual performance, not random selection. Only players marked as .ready are considered in the calculation of the teams.

I got banned for leaving a match. Can I get unbanned?

No. Please be aware of our server rules.

Are you allowed to bunnyhop and flashboost?

Yes you are! Bunnyhopping, flashboosting and runboosting have grown into important gameplay mechanics in CS:S. But please keep in mind that you are still playing on a competitive pug/mix server, where teamplay is essential to win a game. Flashboosting that is considered game breaking (e.g. outside the map) or to a point where it's sabotaging the game (e.g. teamflashing) is not allowed.

How to fix sniper scope crash bug?

Theres a bug in the game that was introduced with the new 20th Anniversary Update. The game randomly crashes when you scope and shoot with a sniper. To fix this, copy and paste the following into your config file:

hud_draw_active_reticle 0
hud_draw_fixed_reticle 0

Will my server playtime reset when I reset my rank?

Yes. Resetting your rank (which can be done using the .stats command) means that all player statistics will be deleted. This also means that your time spent on the server will be lost, so use this feature with caution.
